Well water quality testing for Las Vegas, Pahrump, and rural Nevada

City water gets tested for you. A private well doesn't. If your property runs on a well, a certified lab test is the only way to know what's coming out of the tap.

Why it matters

Private wells in Southern Nevada are your responsibility

Most homes in the Las Vegas Valley are connected to municipal water. But many properties in surrounding areas, especially Pahrump, Moapa Valley, and rural lots around Boulder City and the outer valley, rely on private wells. Unlike city water, private wells are not regulated by the EPA. Keeping that water safe falls entirely on the owner.

Our desert climate and soil make groundwater in the region susceptible to contamination. Septic systems, agricultural activity, and naturally occurring minerals can all reach a well. Many of these contaminants don't change the taste, color, or smell of your water, which is exactly why they go unnoticed.

Water quality also connects to mold. Wells that carry bacteria and minerals can feed growth inside plumbing and fixtures. We wrote about that in why most mold inspections never check your well water.

Our testing screens for a broad spectrum of issues that can affect your health, your plumbing, and your ability to sell or rent the property.

Indicators that surface water, septic, or animal waste may be reaching your well.

    Lead, arsenic, and mercury

Heavy metals that can come from natural geology or older plumbing materials.

  • Panel C · Nitrates

    Nitrates and nitrites

Especially important for households with infants or someone who is pregnant.

  • Panel D · VOCs

    Volatile organic compounds

Chemicals from industrial or agricultural runoff that can seep into groundwater.

  • Panel E · Minerals

    pH, hardness, and minerals

The numbers that decide how fast your pipes, water heater, and appliances wear out.

Questions

Well water testing questions

How often should I test my well water in Nevada?

Test private well water at least once a year for bacteria and nitrates, and every two to three years for heavy metals and VOCs. Test sooner if the taste, smell, or surrounding land use changes.

How long does it take to get results?

Most results are available within three to five business days after sample collection. You'll receive a written report with clear explanations.

What if contaminants are found in my water?

Your report will outline the issue and give actionable recommendations. We don't install treatment systems, but we can refer you to professionals who specialize in filtration and treatment.

Is water testing required when selling a home with a private well?

In many cases lenders and inspectors request water quality testing before closing. Even when it isn't required, certified results increase buyer confidence.
